Paula Ruiz is the oldest of six children born to Maria and Facundo Ruiz. She is a Gadsden High School graduate and was the first person from La Union to attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Paula received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree and subsequently taught in New Mexico, Wisconsin, and Texas. She served as CCD instructor at Saint Matthews in El Paso and volunteered for the Girl and Boy Scouts. She served as Eucharistic Minister, Lecter, Finance Committee member and translator. Paula has been richly blessed and considers her most rewarding achievement helping to raise and homeschool her great nephew Alex. She is the proud godmother to Dahlia, Allya, and Ximina. On her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and cross stitching.
