Lupe Huerta was born on January 28, 1955. She has lived in La Union since the age of seven. She has been married to Pepe Huerta for 34 years. Their family has grown, and they now have three children, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition, after graduating from Gadsden High School, she went to Dona Ana Community College to continue her education.
Lupe has held a number of jobs. Among them are St. Lukes, La Union Elementary, where she served as a substitute teacher, and El Paso Apparel, as well as Farah and Wrangler manufacturing companies in El Paso, Texas.
She generously gave of her time to the community by helping Sister Mary Ellen in teaching new residents basic English. Lupe enjoys teaching children a variety of subjects, including reading. On her spare time she likes to sew, garden, window shop and decorate for the holidays. Lupe works to stay healthy by walking and doing exercising. She used to take exercise classes at the church hall with a La Union teacher. She enjoys learning and has taken basic computer classes and visiting art museums. Lupe is particularly interested in the study of astronomy and the origins of the universe.
Her most cherished life experience is her family, which includes her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lupe also enjoys being around people and socializing.
