Congratulations  Seniors of the Month

Socorro and Dagoberto Lerma

Socorro Lerma was born October 9, 1939 in Chihuahua, Mexico. Socorro is 83 years. She came to the United States in October 1962. In May 1980 her family came to live in La Union, New Mexico. She worked at Mountain pass for 14 years.

 

Socorro helped the community and the church. She would sell clothes for the poor with Cuca Munoz, Socorro, and Rosa. Sister Mary Ellen would help out the first Friday of the month. She also helped for the Kermez, the 4th of July at La Union park making the so much loved gorditas.  With the help of Christina Lerma shee would go collect money at the farm and around La Union for Our Lady of Refuge Fiesta. Her hobbies are baking, crocheting and gardening.

 

Dagoberto Lerma was born in June 22 1934 and is 88 years old. He was born in Chihuahua Mexico and entered The United States in February 1961.  He worked in the fields farming. He then worked with Mr. Hayes in the ranch farming. Later he worked at DNL farms until 1996. Mr. Lerma helped with the annual Kermez selling beer and other drinks.  He has been married to his wife Socorro for 62 years. Together they have three daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He enjoys cleaning the yard and gardening.
