Antonio (Tony) Galindo

Antonio (Tony) Galindo was born in Canutillo, Texas on June 9, 1944. He came from a big family of three brothers and seven sisters. 

Tony graduated from Gadsden High School. He enjoyed working with cars and dreamed of becoming a professional mechanic. A good education was of great importance to Tony and he attended El Paso Community College where he obtained an Associates Degree in Mechanics. He also attended technical school in Albuquerque where he obtained a degree as a Diesel Mechanic.


Tony worked 15 years as a bus driver for Boone Transportation where he transported kids for the Gadsden School District.  He enjoyed taking the kids on field trips and seeing them grow up.


His other employment included janitorial work at Anthony Western Bank.

He also worked as a mechanic at John Deere in Las Cruces, GMC Trucks in El Paso, and the New Mexico State Highway Department in Deming. Tony enjoyed fixing cars and was a skilled mechanic. He later retired from the New Mexico Highway Department.


Tony enjoys a good western movie and driving. He likes lending a helping hand to other elderly in La Union. He has demonstrated this by helping unload boxes of food for distribution to the residents during the holidays. Tony also likes helping with packaging food when called upon.

Tony helped distribute commodities to La Union residents. He was in charge of the meat distribution and enjoyed the level of camaraderie that took place in La Union.
