When we can, let’s all lend a helping hand!

We are so excited to share that La Union is one of 260 grantees chosen for a 2022 AARP Community Challenge grant from @AARPLivable,  https://www.facebook.com/AARPLivableCommunities and AARP New Mexico! 

Through this grant we will 

• Install one Covered Bus Stop Bench 10’x6’x8’ located at La Union/Mercantile Street 

• Install one 14’x14’x8' Gazebo

• Install 3 metal benches in Gazebo 

• Install one Welcome to La Union Sign

• Install 1 wall to place Welcome Sign

The benches and gazebos will be accessible to residents, especially the older individuals to use for enjoying an evening eating, relaxing, and socializing with family, friends, and other local residents. 

The gazebo will provide a nice waiting area for La Union residents and will provide protection from the heat, cold, rain, or wind.

The visible sign will serve as a form of direct communication to local or official visitors informing them that La Union is an inviting and welcoming community.

The project will begin in July and should be completed by or before November 30, 2022. 

Project to be located at the entrance of La Union Townsite at the Community Center.
